Dentures and Bridges
Lost teeth can affect your appearance as well as your oral health. Your teeth are important for daily functions such as chewing and speaking. A full set of teeth helps in maintaining the shape of your face. Lost teeth can cause the jawbone to deteriorate with time, and the remaining natural teeth can shift into the gap, causing bite imbalances.
The offices of New Health Dentistry provide multiple teeth replacement options to help you combat these problems. We provide high-quality dentures and bridges for people who have lost some or all of their teeth.
A denture is an appliance that can be used as a replacement for missing teeth. It consists of prosthetic teeth attached to a gum-colored base and can be fixed (permanently attached with implants) or be removable. Dentures are custom made for you by taking impressions of your mouth. The removable denture designed for an upper jaw has a plate that covers the roof of the mouth, while a lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe and rests on the lower gum. You may take some time to adjust to your new lifestyle with dentures, but once you get used to them, they feel perfectly natural to wear.
Bridge (Partial Denture)
A dental bridge is a device that can be used to replace multiple missing teeth. A bridge fills the gap created due to missing teeth by attaching artificial teeth to the natural teeth at both sides of the gap. Just like dentures, a bridge can be either fixed or removable.
Fixed bridges are attached either by bonding prosthetic teeth directly to the abutment teeth or by placing crowns on the abutment teeth. Removable bridges attach to the natural teeth using metal clasps or precision attachments.
